The Global Ethics Forum on Higher Education Ethics in Action was held in Geneva successfully

The seventh Global Ethics Forum, this time under the theme of “Higher Education Ethics in Action: The Value of Values across sectors”, was held by the Globethics.net in Geneva from June 23 to June 26, 2016. More than 160 delegates who came from Asia, Africa, Europe and Latin America attended this forum. Mrs. Dorothy Gao, the Office Director, and Mrs. Iris Liu, program executive of Globethics.net, from Center for International Business Ethics (CIBE)at the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE)were invited to attend.
 
Mr. Walter Fust, the Ambassador, President of the Board of Foundation, Globethics.net (GE), delivered a welcome addressing via video at the opening ceremony. Christoph Stückelberger, Globethics.net Executive Director and Founder, Chair of Global Ethics Forum gave a brief introduction of the conference, with focus on GE’s Strategy 2016-2020and the emphasis of the following conference. 

 
As the national contact of GE-China(CN), Mrs. Gao attended “Teaching & Research Lab 2: Students’ Extracurricular Engagement” on June 23, to deliver a speech on “Vaccine Program” for College Students in China. She presented the Status quo of higher education in China and the necessity of Student Extracurricular Engagement in Responsible Leadership; introduced CIBE’s Social Responsibility Series activities for college students which aims to enrich the formats of student activities, to strengthen the community (not only students, but also government, enterprises, universities and experts, etc.) engagement, and to establish a stable model of development and to integrate awareness of social responsibility and practical ability of education. She concluded her presentation by calling for more international partners’ collaboration and students/faculties exchange on similar programs. 

 
As Program Executive, Mrs. Liu presented GE-CN program at the “Regional Program and National Contact Workshop” on June 25, about the team, participants, partners and activities. Among the general activities in Academic Research, Education and Public Awareness, she emphasized on the Responsible Outbound Investment Series Salon in the Chinese outbound investment(COI) CSR performance research project, Publications and Collegiate CSR Essay Competition & CSR Summer Camp. The next 5 years plan for GE-CN is to increase the Chinese content and registration, training on business ethics and COI-CSR project. She also called for more collaboration GE partners & created real impact to the society. 

 
Later was the plenary and group discussions lasted for three days, which was also the essential component of this forum: to give the participants more time to discuss, identify the problem, provide practical solutions and promote cooperation among projects. The topics include: The Responsibility of the Higher Education Sector-“Teaching the right things in the right ways”, Ethical Challenges & Responses in Higher Education from a Cross-Sectoral Perspective, Teaching & Research Good Practices, Governance Good Practices: Creating the Foundations, Governance Good Practices: Living the Values, Institutionalizing the Values, Society: Connecting with Actors to Promote Ethics in Higher Education, Transdisciplinary Ethics Curricula, Teaching Business Ethics, Research Ethics, Publication Ethics, Green Campuses, Measurement & Quality, New Management Models, Anti-Corruption policies and so on.
 
On Thursday 23 June 2016, an evening celebration with music, video clips, speeches, gift-giving and flowers marked the official handover from Walter Fust to Christoph Stückelberger as President of Globethics.net and from Dr Stückelberger to Obiora Ike as the New Executive Director, effective from 1 July 2016. 

 From 2009, cooperated with Globethics.net, CIBE has made great contributions to the promotion of business ethics study and practice in China. We hope to collaborate with more institutions of different countries and regions on issues of common concerns through Globethics.net and bring a positive effect to the social progress and development.
