Liu Baocheng

Director

Dr. Liu received his MBA and MSC in International Business from Seton Hall University (USA) and his bachelor degree in International Trade and PhD in Law from University of International Business and Economics (UIBE, China).

He is the founder and Director of Center for International Business Ethics (CIBE) at University of International Business and Economics; and is the Deputy Director of China Open Economy Institute; founder of Sino-America International Management Institute; Director of Sino-French Excellence Institute; he set China’s first Master Program on Sustainable Development at China Agriculture University in partnership with University Paris Dauphine (MSD) which filled in the gaps in China. He served as adjunct professor to Seton Hall University, Montclair State University, and University of Maryland. His area of research and teaching covers a variety of disciplines including marketing, business ethics, cross-cultural communication, and business law. Dr. Liu also serves on the council for China’s Society of Economic Transitions, Research Center of Multinational Corporation, and he is also a member of Advisory Council to Beijing Foreign Investment Administration and to Shizuishan City of Ningxia Autonomous Region.

Besides teaching and research, he also personally involves in many projects which cover international trades, joint venture management, marketing research, and legal service. He has provide consulting or training to many clients, like BASF, Bentley, Bimbo, BP, China Central Party School, Chinese pharmaceutical companies, Herborium Inc., London Export Corporation, North China Electric Power, OTIS, Schneider, Sino-PEC, Sichuan Telecom, Unigene Laboratories, etc...

 

Stephan Rothlin

Secretary General

Dr. Stephan Rothlin is the General Secretary and Vice Director of the Center for International Business Ethics at the University of International Business and Economics. Meanwhile, he serves as the Chairman of Association at International Business Ethics of Hong Kong (AIBE). Born in Zurich, Switzerland and educated in various cities throughout Europe in the disciplines of philosophy, economics, sociology and ethics, Dr. Rothlin ultimately obtained his PhD at the State University of Innsbruck, Austria in Business Ethics in 1991.

Between 1992 and 1998 he taught Business Ethics at the Institute of Management and Economics in the University of Zurich. In 1998 he moved to Beijing, where he taught International Business Ethics at several universities, including Renmin University (Finance & Business School), Peking University (BiMBA-program), Beijing Institute of Technology, the University of International Business and Economics, and the Central Party School in Beijing. He is a Permanent Visiting Fellow at the Institute for Empirical Research in Economics at the University of Zurich and is welcomed as a regular visiting professor at a number of business schools in Asia and France.

His main research focus is the development of Business Ethics in Asia, with a special focus on China. In cooperation with Peking University Press, he directs a series of translations of major Business Ethics textbooks into Chinese. In 2004, Peking University press published his book "Becoming A Top-Notch Player." He has considerable experience in cross-cultural projects and is fluent in six languages: German, French, Italian, Spanish, English, and Mandarin Chinese.

 

Dennis P. McCann 

Director for the International Business Ethics Case Study Institute

Dr. McCann, Professor Emeritus of Agnes Scott College, Atlanta/Decatur, Georgia, USA, has taught business ethics in the USA for over 30 years, and has been involved in research, lecturing and teaching on business ethics in China and SE Asia for the past 15 years. He has been particularly concerned to identify culturally appropriate teaching materials for China and Asia, based on his ongoing research in the fields of philosophy and religious studies. Dr. McCann formerly was Director of Research and Development at the Hong Kong America Centre (HKAC) during his Fulbright year (2005-2006), and served as Visiting Professor in the Department of Philosophy and Religion, Hong Kong Baptist University (2006-2008). Dr. McCann served as Executive Director of the Society of Christian Ethics, the premier academic association for professors of religious ethics in the USA (1996-2001). The author of several books and dozens of scholarly articles (see the attached curriculum vitae for details), most recently he is the co-author, with Prof. Lee Kam-hon and Ms. Mary Ann Ching Yuen, of a book, Christ and the Business Culture, to be published this year by Chinese University Press in Hong Kong. Over the past 15 yearsMcCann has taught courses, given workshops and lectured in universities in Hong Kong, China, Philippines, Malaysia, Japan, Thailand, Indonesia, and India.

 

Yang Hengda

Senior Academic Adviser

Professor Yang Hengda is the Vice Director of the Center for International Business Ethics at University of International Business and Economics.
In 1982 Prof. Yang received his M.A. from Renmin University Beijing, China and took office there in the same year. Between 1985 and 1987, he studied comparative literature and German at the University Bonn and between August 1992 and 1993 he was a visiting professor at Towson University in the United States. He is fluent in four languages: Chinese, German, English and French.
Currently he is a Professor in the Comparative Literature School at Renmin University of China, the Director of the teaching section in Comparative Literature School, Director of the Overseas Chinese Culture Institute, Senior Academic Advisor in The Beijing Center of Chinese Studies, Vice Chairman of Beijing Comparative Literature Association, and Director of Chinese Comparative Literature Association as well as a member of the board. He is also a member of the Chinese Writers Association. Prof. Yang has achieved great attainments in philosophy, literature, and cross-cultural studies.

 

Prof. Lou Yulie

Chief Advisor

Prof. Lou Yulie teaches at the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies, Peking University and is a research supervisor at the Buddhist Research Institute. He is a member of Team of the Ancient Books' Arrangement and Publication of the State Council, and a consultant of Chinese Religious Institute and Global Confucius Institute. Prof. Lou’s research and teaching focuses on the history of Chinese philosophy, history of Chinese Buddhism. He has published numerous articles and books about traditional philosophy and Buddhism, such as “Metaphysics and Chinese Traditional Philosophy”, “On the History Evolution and Future Perspectives of Chinese Confucianism”, “Buddhism and Chinese Philosophy in Modern Times”, “Chinese Buddhism and Humanistic Spirit” and “Confucian Self-cultivation Theory”. Prof. Lou is also the advocate and practitioner for the Chinese Culture Fund. He established the Buddhist Nun College at Peking University.

 

Hou Shengtian

Senior Research Associate

Dr. Hou, received his MBA from City University (USA). With more than 20-year-experienxe in lecturing, corporate marketing, management, strategy consulting, and management training, he is an Associate Professor at Beijing University of Chinese Medicine (BUCM) for the School of Management. He is also the senior researcher and deputy Secretary General of CIBE.

Upon graduation as a postgraduate student from Tsinghua University in 1987, he was invited to join the teaching staff and later went abroad to the University of Jyvaskyla in 1992. After returning to China, he served in many famous companies, handling jobs covering corporate management, marketing, strategy consulting, and management training. Dr. Hou has been lecturing and teaching Strategic Management, Medical Service Marketing, Hospital Marketing Management, Pharmacy Marketing Management, Marketing Research, Network Marketing, and Entrepreneurial Management and Finance in BUCM, Western International University (USA), Tsinghua University, and several distinguished training organizations. Dr. Hou’s research covers sustainable competence of enterprises, creative marketing, comparison on Chinese and Western management, and history of management theories.

Dr. Hou published extensively in the field of marketing and strategic management, especially in the healthcare area. Some of his popular books includes Green Ocean Strategy----Obtaining sustainable competitive advantage, Marching in the Green Ocean, Success Stories of Longevity Companies, Health Food Marketing Management, Marketing & and Managing OTC Products, Pharmacy Marketing Management, Medical Marketing Management, Medical Service Marketing, Healthcare Advertising, Healthcare Marketing Research. Dr. Hou is also Chief Editor of “The National Management Textbook Series for Medical and Pharmaceutical Universities”.

 

Yike Tian

Senior Researcher

Yike Tian, primitively named Hui Tian and from Nanpi, Hebei Province, is both a calligrapher and a scholar on Guoxue (Chinese ancient civilization, including philosophy, history, archaeology, literature, linguistics, etc.). After ending his career as a teacher in Hebei Botou Normal School (1992-1998), he started to establish his own business in 1998 involving, but not limited to, projects, trade, cultural diffusion etc. Devoted to research on marketing, management, and economic ethnics for years, he has developed an original idea and practical experience especially on the cross-study of Chinese traditional culture and modern corporate management. Besides his business, he has made a number of lectures to university students, corporate managers, and government officials on special topics about Inspiration of the art of communication in The Analects of Confucius on the international economy ethnics, Dizigui (A Confucius book about rules that children have to obey) and executive ability, and the practical significance of the ethnical view of Dizigui in modern business. He has been a senior researcher in CIBE since June, 2006.

 

Yang YunHui

Senior Researcher

Yang YunHui born April 8, 1965 in Xiangyin, Hunan, has been the senior enterprise culture manager and executive director of the Association of Chinese brand manager. He is now employed in atop 500 enterprise,MacrolinkGroup, as an executive director and assistant president.He has studied at Hunan First Normal University, Hunan University, Peking University and other institutions, culminating in a professional educational background of Chinese Language and Literature、Economics, and Business Administration.He has background in teaching, research, and media coverage from Hunan First Normal University, Hunan Education Press Agency and Hunan Provincial Party Committee Propaganda Office. His long-term focus is on the spread of media,the building of enterprise culture and management,business ethics,ancient Chinese philosophy in the news, culture building, brand building, and career development.Through his rich experience and profound gnosis,he has published more than ten books of student reading materials,planned,edited, and publishedmore than ten enterprise culture and management books. Furthermore, he is published in dozens of newspapers on domestic business management and culture building, and in hundreds of news articles on large-scale domestic enterprise. He has experience in compiling and publishing corporate social responsibility reports, in training corporate culture and corporate management, and in academic exchanges for more than thirty enterprises consisting of thousands of professional managers at business schools throughout the country. He has been a senior researcher in CIBE since March, 2012.

 

Maaike E. Harmsen

Consultant

Maaike Harmsen (1975, the Netherlands) received her Major in Ethics (Theology) in the Netherlands at the ThuK, Kampen, and has studied at different Universities in the Netherlands on Business Philosophy, Ethics, homiletics,  and especially Business Ethics. After graduation she worked as an Internal External Adviser for Shell International Amsterdam, working on better Staff and Management relations, HR issues and further implementation of the Business Codes of Conduct and Business Values in Shell Chemicals Technology worldwide. She has been a college lecturer and trainer in Indonesia and worked in The Netherlands again as a guest lecturer in Cross Cultural Philosophy, and as a free lance adviser and speaker for organisations and institutes who were interested in change management. She was also the member of the Management Board of a large primary school association and was involved in Governance and Change Management issues there (2007-2010).  Now she is working back in Asia again, helping CIBE to achieve its goals of becoming a Top Notch Player in China in Business Ethics, by consulting, training and management work at CIBE. Her training involves scenario planning methods and  Ethical Governance.

 

Dorothy Gao

Office & Project Director

Ms. Huan Gao graduated from the School of International Trades at the University of Business and Economics, and she received her master degree from Loughborough University, England and returned to the University of Business and Economics in 2004 to work as Dean Secretary of the Sino-French School of International Management.

In the summer of 2006, she worked as program director of Master of Sustainable Development Program (MSD), which is jointly organized by China Agricultural University & Paris-Dauphine University with Center for International Business Ethics as the academic center of curriculum development. Currently she works as the Office & Project Director of the Center for International Business Ethics (CIBE), taking responsibility for the administration of CIBE, the Annual International Conference, and the Corporate Social Responsibility Essay Competition that has attracted competing students from the most prestigious Chinese Universities.

 

Stella Yang

Deputy Director of Research & Communication Department

Stella Yang graduated as Bachelor of Architecture from Hua Qiao University in 2001. After 3 years of working in Institute of Project Planning & Research (IPPR), she went on to receive her master's degree from Institute of Sino-French School of Management (IFCM) at UIBE. She has been an employee of CIBE since June of 2008 and has participated in projects such as Bimbo training, WNSF training, JIBE publishing, Peking University Press Series, CSR essay competition, and CIBE membership event. Stella currently contributes in coordinating the CCRC cooperation, producing the documentary, Integrity in China, and the Globethics.com China project.

 

Xiaosong Li

Researcher

Xiaosong Li, graduated with the master degree in Global Marketing from University of International Business and Economics.His current research interests include International Marketing, Brand Marketing and Consumer Behaviors. From Sep. 2008 to Mar. 2009, he studied in Univerzitaet zu Koeln (Cologne University), Germany as an exchange student.
Since Jun. 2009, he has been working in the research department of CIBE, and now is mainly responsible for the research projects of Ethical Criteria and Business Ethics Case Study.

 

Marta Caccamo

Researcher

Marta Caccamo (1989, Italy), will graduate with a Master Degree in International Management as part of a double degree program sponsored by Bocconi University of Milan and Fudan University of Shanghai in July 2012.
After few work experiences in China in the B2B as well as in the FMCG industries, she joined the research department of the Center for International Business Ethics in July 2011 and she has been mainly involved in the Foreign Invested Enterprise CSR Assessment and Case Study activities, besides having the oversight of the Italian partnerships of the Center.
Her main research interests are sustainable development, social entrepreneurship and cross cultural communication.

 

Iris Liu

Social Entrepreneurship Project Leader

Iris Liu graduated from the University of Paris Dauphine obtaining a Master’s degree in sustainable development management. Her research is related to corporate social responsibility, environmental management, ecological city, gender discrimination, microfinance, climate change, and sustainable development-related disciplines. Before she came to a member of the Center of International Business Ethics, she worked in the advertising and furniture industry. She is now the Sustainable Project Manager and is responsible for the series of college students CSR package including the Future Cities (China) design Competition, the Annual CSR Essay Competition, Climate Change Campus Tour, and the Business Negotiations Competition.

 

Libby Li

Liaison and Public Relations Officer

Libby Li holds a degree from the Law department of China University of Politics and Law.
From 2003 to 2008, she worked in the Zhuoyue International College at University of International Business and Economics for students’ management as the director of the students department and the committee member of the workers union, where she has obtained rich experiences in communication and planning Ability. Her main focuses include education, training, and charitable causes. After the 5.12 earthquake in Sichuan in 2008, she has visited the disaster area four times performing volunteer work.
In 2009, she joined in Center for International Business Ethics, organizing the social exposure program and the China Charity Federation Reindeer Foundation for Autistic Children, which promotes improvement in the education in the poverty-stricken areas in China and relief of the sufferings of the Autistic children. Now, She currently contributes in promoting CIBE, the Globethics.net China project, and producing the documentary, Integrity in China.

 

Shi Quhai

Liaison Officer, Business Department

Graduated with the Master Degree in Sustainable Development (MSD), from the School of Management at Paris-Dauphine (2007-2010). Her research has covered the areas of Sustainable Development, Environmental Policies, Corporate Social Responsibility, etc. Besides completing the compulsory courses with outstanding performances, she has also interned at the Headquarter (Greater China) of the Climate Group, where she has obtained hands-on experiences in application of low-carbon technologies (Battery Electric Vehicles, in specific) in China.

From March 2010, she has devoted herself to the journey on Business Ethics at the Center for International Business Ethics, and mainly responsible for research and training programs.

 

Kang Zhaoming

Logistics Manager

Before joining CIBE in 2007, Mr. Kang Zhaoming worked in the Logistics Department of the Beijing Sports University and TBC (The Beijing Centre for Chinese Study) of UIBE (University of International Business and Economics) since 1999.
